The tart cherries developed at the University of Saskatchewan develop into medium shrubs that make maintenance and harvest easier. They produce an annual crop of flavourful fruit that can be eaten out of hand or processed into preserves, pie filling, juice and wine. Plants are self-fertile and do not require cross pollination.
Carmine Jewel Cherry - (1 litre pot) zone 2, dark red, 3.5 gram fruit, grows 6-8 feet, The fruit is best used in jam, jelly, juice and pie filling.
Cupid Cherry - (2 litre pot) zone 2, dark red, 6.5 gram fruit, grows 6-8 feet, can be eaten fresh off the bush or used in preserves. Blooms one week later than other cherries from the same breeding program.
Romeo Cherry - (2 litre pot) zone 2, dark red, 4 gram fruit, grows 6-8 feet, flavourful and has a high sugar content. It is good for eating, processing and juice making.
