Mint Plant
Mint - Mentha spp.
Mint is a useful herb that pairs well with lamb dishes and can be used for mint jelly. It can be used either fresh or dried for an invigorating hot tea or as a great addition to your summer drinks. it is a companion plant for plants in the cabbage family, onion family, tomatoes, and peas. Mint can be grown easily in a pot or in the ground and can overwinter with mulch and a protected site, but more often does not overwinter in our zone 3 area. However, it is suggested that you plant the herb in a large pot in the ground so that you can either easily lift it in the fall or if you have an ideal site so that the plant does not take over your garden. Mint can do well in full sun or part shade.
