Thank you for the interest in the plant swap this year.  Unfortunately due to low registration, we are cancelling the event this year.

What is a Plant Swap?

Some also call it a plant or garden exchange but basically it's an event where you bring extra plants you have divided from your garden and leave with new additions to add to your collection. You can connect with other gardeners,  and learn new tips and tricks to get even more enjoyment out of your garden.

How does a plant swap work?

When you arrive you bring your plants to the registration desk and we will help sort them. You will receive a ticket for every plant that you bring.  You will have the ability to exchange for that same number of plants.  You will have some time to look through the plants and network with other gardeners.  Once the swapping begins we will rotate through everyone registered to choose their plants in exchange for their tickets.  When everyone has used all of their tickets or is happy with their new collection, any extras will be offered for sale to support the community hall.

How should I get my plants ready for the swap?

We recommend dividing your plants over the next short while and potting them in pots no smaller than 3.5 inch pots with good quality potting mix.  Labelling your plants will also really help other gardeners identify what might work well for them.  The more information you have the better, but if you're not sure about even the name of a great plant in your yard, we will be happy to help identify it for you when you register.

What kind of plants should I bring?

Annuals, perennials, grasses, ferns, vegetable starts, and even trees are all welcome at this year's plant swap. Bring divisions of the plants that you love because they have done well in your garden.  If they have a story (such as seeds being handed down over generations) that is even better.  We hope to see every level of gardener there so whether you have the latest and greatest, or the tried and true, we're looking forward to seeing what you have

Can I still participate if I don't have any plants to swap?

Absolutely.  Just let us know when you register online that you won't be bringing plants.  You can purchase tickets when you register and get in on the swapping action.  If you want to show up after the swapping is done, all the extras will be on sale.  Other ideas would be to bring plants from friends and family's gardens that won't be able to make it

What kind of plants should I leave at home?

Out of consideration for our fellow gardeners and natural areas (we are lucky to be close to so many natural parks), we will not be accepting any plants that are on the invasive species list.  As well we require that the plants have no disease or major insect infestations.

Below are some photos of our past plant swaps.  Take a look at the great selection of plants people bring.
